Residential Fire Investigations

According to the National Fire Protection Association, one in every 310 households reports a fire every year. Residential fires can be complicated to investigate because normally, much of the evidence itself is destroyed by the fire. ESI employs innovative methods and has extensive experience in determining origin and cause in household fires.

Every fire must have an ignition source and fuel, and are present in every home due to typical wood construction and many appliances. Some typical causes of residential fires include:

  • Cooking fires
  • Space heaters
  • Other appliances
  • Smoking materials
  • Electrical Faults

Apartment Building Fires:

Apartment fires are often caused by the same factors as single-family residency fires, but can be much more dangerous because of the large number of people living in apartments. By tracing the path of the fire through apartment units, our inspectors can find the origin of the fire.
