Amarillo and Gainesville, TX

On 4/17/2019 during the evening hours, a severe hail storm took place over Amarillo and Gainesville, TX causing widespread damage from 1.00″ and 1.25″ hailstones, respectively. This damage contributed to property losses county-wide, including damage to roof coverings and vehicles.

Amarillo, part of Randall County, TX, was struck by quarter sized hail at approximately 5:53 PM CST. The National Weather Service had issued a severe thunderstorm warning. The storms produced 60 mile per hour winds which drove the hail to severely impact residential dwellings and commercial buildings in the area.

Gainesville, part of Cooke County, TX, was struck by half dollar sized hail at approximately 9:07 PM CST. The National Weather Service had issued a severe thunderstorm warning. The storms produced 60 mile per hour winds which drove the hail to severely impact residential dwellings and commercial buildings in the area.
