Jefferson City, MO
Late Thursday night and through to early Friday morning, a vicious tornado took place over Cole County, MO causing widespread damage. This damage contributed to property losses county-wide, including damage to roof coverings, vehicles and complete destruction to some structures.
Jefferson City and the surrounding area was struck in the late evening hours; about 11:45 PM on 5/23/2019. The severe storms continued into the early morning of 5/24/2019. The National Weather Service had issued a severe thunderstorm warning. The storms produced upwards of 70 mile per hour winds which drove the hail to severely impact residential dwellings and commercial buildings in the area.

Nationwide, insurance claims from tornados – and the severe weather that comes with them – routinely total more than $9 billion each year.
