Recent Earthquakes Near Ridgecrest, California

There have been two significant 6.4 and 7.1 earthquakes in a sparsely populated area of Southern California. The effects of both were felt throughout Southern California and as far away as Las Vegas. The magnitude 7.1 mainshock was the most power earthquake in the State of California in 20 years.

Earthquakes cause damage by shaking the ground which can cause structural damage, severing of mechanical lines, and knock out power.
