On 5/28/2019 during the early morning hours, a severe hail storm took place over Douglas County, NE and Denver County, CO causing widespread damage from 1.00″ and 1.25″ hailstones, respectively. This damage contributed to property losses county-wide, including damage to roof coverings and vehicles.

The Omaha, NE city area was struck by quarter sized hail at approximately 4:06 AM CST. The National Weather Service had issued a severe thunderstorm warning. The storms produced 60 mile per hour winds which drove the hail to severely impact residential dwellings and commercial buildings in the area

The Denver, CO city area was struck by half dollar sized hail at approximately 1:20 AM CST. The National Weather Service had issued a severe thunderstorm warning. The storms produced high winds which drove the hail to severely impact residential dwellings and commercial buildings in the area

Hail storms are common in both Denver, CO and Omaha, NE, where on a typical year there may be 13 days of hail for both cities.
