On 11/7/2018 during the morning hours, a severe hail storm took place over Pelahatchie, MS and Sandhill, MS causing widespread damage from 2.00″ and 1.75″ hailstones, respectively. This damage contributed to property losses county-wide, including damage to roof coverings and vehicles.

Pelahatchie, part of Rankin County, was struck by hen egg sized hail at approximately 8:33 AM CST. The National Weather Service had issued a severe thunderstorm warning. The storms produced strong winds which drove the storm to move northeast at 35 miles per hour and drove hail to severely impact residential dwellings and commercial buildings in the area.

Sandhill, also part of Rankin County, was struck by golf ball sized hail at approximately 8:36 AM CST. The National Weather Service had issued no warnings. The storms produced strong winds which drove the hail to severely impact residential dwellings and commercial buildings in the area.
