On 9/14 during the late evening hours, a severe hail storm took place over Twin Valley, Minnesota and Laporte, Minnesota causing widespread damage from 2.00″ hailstones. This damage contributed to property losses in both areas, including damage to roof coverings and vehicles.

The Norman County area was struck by hen egg sized hail at 9:25 PM, CDT. The National Weather Service had issued a severe thunderstorm warning. The storms produced strong winds which drove the hail to severely impact residential dwellings, vehicles, and commercial buildings in the area.

The Hubbard County area was struck by hen egg sized hail at 11:35 PM, CDT. The National Weather Service had issued a severe thunderstorm warning. The storms produced 60 mile per hour winds which drove the hail to severely impact residential dwellings and commercial buildings in the area, as well as damage vehicles. 

Hail storms are uncommon in both Twin Valley, MN and Laporte, MN, where on a typical year there may only be about 2 days of hail per city.
